For fans of both Big Boi and The Blacks Keys, do yourself a favor and download this mixtape. Wick-it mixes the vocals from Big Boi's Sir Luscious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty and music from The Black Keys' Brothers. I can't even choose a favorite song on the mixtape! It's that good. Honestly one of the best mixtapes I've ever heard, derived from two of my favorite albums that released this year. Stay tuned for ListenUp's top ten lists of 2010. Happy holidays and ListenUp!

Here is the official video short-film for Dom Kennedy's second single off of his most recent mixtape: "Westside With Love". The talented creators at The Top Shelf Company shot this amazing in-depth visual to accompany his ever so talented flow.
In "Locals Only", Dom is captured in train stations waiting for a train. The chorus being "When the train stops this time // I'm gonna catch it" it seems perfect for the video to be taken place in a train station, but if you think past the lyrics; you can understand the true meaning: anticipating the next step, and making the progression. While Dom is on the train he sits next to this beautiful woman and eventually makes small talk, and she gets his number. Although, when they arrive, she is greeted by a man; Sometimes when anticipating the next step, it changes... so work with the change and move on.

My cousin introduced me to this awesome collaboration back when I was in Grade 8. I wasn't a huge B.I.G fan back then, and didn't really start loving it until a few years later when I thought I was sooo gangsta. The concept is simple but it works surprising well: Biggie rapping over Frank Sinatra's instrumentals. Be sure to listen to one of my favorite collabs of all-time. Download here. My favorite song? A-Trak - Dirty South Dance 2
It was about 3 years ago when I first heard Dirty South Dance, It was by far my favorite album/mixtape. It opened and broadened my horizons for music. Mixing so many different genres into one "super" song, helped my appreciation for sound rather then music.

It's hard to tell who is the real deal, lets just say; Theo is here to stay. I compared his sound to, Theophilius London and Lupe Fiasco... not a bad comparison at all.

B.o.B - May 25th Mixtape
Finally! My favorite of XXL's hip-hop 09' freshmen: B.o.B, has just dropped his latest mixtape. Download it here. I truly believe he is a breath of fresh air and the future of hip-hop, which has increasingly been all about "Patron, swag and Auto-tune." Not only is he a rapper, a singer AND a producer, but he is known to play several instruments as well. His full-length album, which is coming out on, you guessed it, May 25th, is titled The Adventures of Bobby Ray. It is rumored to feature the likes of Lupe Fiasco, T.I. and Eminem. Be sure to check out his excellent first single Nothing On You featuring Bruno Mars.
